CHIEF OPERATING ENGINEER WANTED

Our esteemed client is seeking a Chief Operating Engineer ready to showcase their expertise and make a significant impact.
Position Details:
- Contract to Hire
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 7am – 4pm
- Free parking available onsite
- Interview Process: First round virtual, second round in-person onsite
What you’ll be doing:
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across all systems.
- Demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations) and be multi-skilled to complete daily/weekly assignments.
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to meet applicable standards.
- Ensure responsibility for facility services including preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency.
- Maintain HVAC equipment, ensuring it operates at optimum performance levels through cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts.
- Record readings and adjust equipment as necessary to ensure proper operation.
- Adhere to departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
- Conduct periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
- Monitor quality and pricing of maintenance work by external contractors.
- Follow all safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and ensure workplace safety. Identify potential dangers and propose elimination methods.
The right candidate has:
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Over 10 years of experience in maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
- Capability to analyze and address issues in various Commercial or Industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- EPA 608 Type II Certification.
- Proficiency in computer applications including Word and Excel.
- Note: A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is not required for this role.
Preferred qualifications:
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.
