What you'll be doing…
- Storage Administration:
- Designing, configuring, securing, and maintaining highly available enterprise data storage systems.
- Proactively monitoring storage systems and providing utilization reports to identify issues and corrective actions.
- Troubleshooting performance problems on FC network and NAS attached storage systems, applying solutions that have lasting effects.
- Refreshing data upon request from application or service owner customers.
- Developing documentation/ SOPs and team vetted storage standards and policies as needed.
- Following ITIL practices for Change Management across multiple vendor hardware and software infrastructures.
- Monitoring Configuration & Maintenance:
- Designing and maintaining dashboards, reports, and alerts tailored to user and departmental needs.
- Creating, updating, and managing documentation templates for SOPs and knowledge transfer.
- Daily System Health & Preventative Maintenance:
- Performing daily health checks of storage, network, and server environments.
- Scheduling and performing system reboots or failovers required for patching or outages.
- Incident & Ticket Management:
- Handling incoming ServiceNow tickets related to monitoring issues.
- Opening vendor support cases as needed and collaborating with city wide IT groups, executive management, and vendors.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Attending Teams meetings with city staff and management to promote observability services.
- Providing regular status updates and maintaining clear communication about system health.

- Technical Expertise:
- Hands-on experience with various storage platforms.
- Strong understanding of storage, network, server, and application principles.
- Proficiency in various fiber channel and NAS technologies.
- Operational Skills:
- Proven ability to perform daily system health checks and manage patching and maintenance.
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems, along with the ability to escalate issues aptly.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
- Capable of documenting processes, facilitating knowledge sharing, and training others as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in SNIA and vendor-published storage certifications.
- Strong experience with fiber channel, particularly Cisco MDS and Broadcom Brocade infrastructure.
- Familiarity with VMware, Microsoft, and Linux server environments.
