Fleet Maintenance Mechanic (GM)-Lansing MI
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on a variety of industrial vehicles and equipment, including forklifts (electric and LP), aerial lifts, personnel carriers, and light/heavy-duty trucks.
The ideal candidate demonstrates technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This position involves hands-on mechanical work and regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, reaching, and climbing. Personal tools are not required.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures on vehicles and equipment; disassemble, repair, and reassemble components as required

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and safety inspections to ensure optimal performance and compliance

Respond to service calls and provide timely troubleshooting and repair solutions

Maintain detailed and accurate service logs, maintenance reports, and inspection records

Ensure all fleet and equipment repairs meet company and regulatory standards

Complete all required documentation, including daily checklists and pre-trip inspections
Basic Qualifications:

Minimum age: 18 years (21+ if CDL required)

Successful completion of drug test and background verification

Validated technical/mechanical aptitude test

Proven experience repairing forklifts (propane, electric, hydraulic systems, or pallet jacks)

Strong mechanical knowledge of industrial equipment and vehicles

Proficiency in hydraulic, pneumatic, and brake systems

Working knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures
Preferred Experience:
-
Experience using computerized diagnostic tools, CMMS, or maintenance work order systems

Familiarity with industrial and manufacturing maintenance standards and procedures

Experience operating or testing Class A/B CDL vehicles

Background in servicing both light and heavy-duty trucks, including engines, brakes, and tires

Solid understanding of internal combustion and diesel engine systems
