JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Details:
- Contract to Hire
- Shift: Tuesday-Saturday, 6 am-2:30 pm
- FTE: $39/hr
- GM Union Position (UAW)
Role Overview:
As our Material Handling Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance and essential repairs on industrial equipment such as forklifts, tuggers, personnel carriers, and aerial lifts. This role requires an autonomous problem solver and technical expert to ensure uninterrupted operations within our factory and warehouse environments.
What you'll be doing…
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures in MHE fleet equipment
- Disassembling, repairing, and reassembling components, including electrical systems, motors, drive systems, rear ends, and brakes
- Conducting regular preventive maintenance and safety inspections per schedule
- Responding promptly to service calls and equipment breakdowns
- Maintaining accurate equipment service records and documentation
- Completing daily checklists and maintenance logs in the Corrigo system
- Ordering necessary replacement parts while managing inventory
- Adhering to all site safety protocols and procedures

Required Qualifications:
- Extensive focus on warehouse and factory equipment—heavy truck and diesel experience is not applicable
- Eight years of documented experience with forklifts, aerial lifts, tuggers, or material handling equipment from a paid employer (full-time)
- Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills
- Strong knowledge of industrial equipment mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Experience with hydraulic and brake systems
- Skills in administering Preventive Maintenance Programs (Corrigo)
- Ability to interpret technical schematics and equipment manuals
- Physical capability for movements including lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, and handling objects
- Valid Driver's License
- High School Diploma/GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with computer instrumentation for diagnostics and maintenance tracking
- Knowledge of manufacturing standards and staying updated with equipment technology
- Experience with industrial batteries and charging systems
- Hands-on experience with Hyster, Hoist, Crown, Genie, JLG, Taylor Dunn and Columbia equipment
- Proficiency in performing minor repairs to light trucks and vehicles
