What you'll be doing…
- Conduct thorough follow-ups on reports of energy theft submitted by field personnel.
- Investigate reports of energy theft, including fraud, identity theft, received through hotlines or Customer Service Representatives (CSRs).
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal police agencies to facilitate investigations.
- Engage directly with customers involved in questionable cases.
- Maintain strong liaison contacts with welfare, social assistance departments, and other utility teams across organization.
- Compile, prepare, and maintain detailed reports and files pertaining to theft and fraud cases.
- Present recurring offender cases to local prosecutors and law enforcement to pursue legal actions.
- Identify cases of energy theft through onsite inspections and coordinate field activities to suppress such incidents.
- Assist various departments as needed, including operations and security.
- Identify property owners for accurate billing and individuals with outstanding balances owed to the company.
- Stay current with company policies and procedures.
- Establish and uphold liaisons with local inspectors, reporting any observed violations.
- Update customer databases and computer programs with required notations.
- Address inquiries from the public, CSRs, and field personnel promptly.
- Ensure billing department has appropriate charges referencing investigations.
The right person has…
- At least 2 years of prior experience as an investigator or in utility theft.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Strong case and call management skills.
- Previous police or security experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
