Developer Productivity Support Engineer
We are seeking a Systems Engineer / AV Developer Productivity Support Engineer to support the developer productivity ecosystem for Autonomous Vehicle (AV) organization. This role serves as the first point of contact for software engineers experiencing issues with remote development environments, CI/CD platforms, source control, networking, and developer tooling.
The ideal candidate combines strong IT systems engineering fundamentals with excellent troubleshooting skills across Windows, Linux, and macOS environments. You will diagnose, resolve, and escalate technical issues while continuously improving documentation and support processes to enhance engineering productivity.
This is a fully remote, U.S.-based position supporting West Coast business hours (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM PDT) with participation in an on-call rotation for critical production incidents.
Key Responsibilities
Developer Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for developer support requests through ticketing and communication channels.
- Respond promptly to incoming incidents and service requests while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Troubleshoot developer workstation, networking, authentication, and connectivity issues.
- Resolve configuration and environment-related problems with minimal escalation.
- Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and knowledge base articles.
Systems Engineering
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain development systems, servers, and supporting infrastructure.
- Perform software installation, patching, maintenance, and system updates.
- Maintain configuration documentation and operational procedures.
- Support system capacity planning and configuration management.
- Ensure availability and reliability of development infrastructure.
Infrastructure & Platform Support
- Support Remote Development Environments (RDE).
- Troubleshoot SSH connectivity, authentication, VPN, DNS, proxies, and networking issues.
- Support Windows, Linux, macOS, and Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).
- Diagnose client-side configuration issues affecting remote development.
- Support GitHub workflows and source control operations.
- Assist with CI/CD platform issues including Buildkite and Bazel.
Incident Management
- Reproduce customer-reported issues.
- Determine root cause and severity.
- Escalate complex engineering problems with complete documentation.
- Participate in P0/P1 incident response and on-call rotation.
- Track incidents through resolution while maintaining ticket quality.
Process Improvement
- Create and maintain runbooks.
- Improve internal documentation and FAQs.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend automation opportunities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve support workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field.
- 2–4 years of Systems Engineering, IT Support, Platform Support, or DevOps Support experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure.
- Ability to prioritize multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment.
