This role is perfect for someone with hands-on field experience who is eager to transition to a more supervisory role. Ideal candidates will have a Journeyman's background, team leadership experience, and come from a commercial background. No state licensing is necessary.
Team Leadership: Oversee a dedicated team of 6 people under the Chief Engineer's mentorship.
The Chief Electrical Engineer will lead and manage the electrical maintenance team, focusing on installation, repair, and maintenance of all electrical and power distribution systems. In this role, you'll supervise the electrical and lighting operations team during your assigned shifts.

Your Role and Responsibilities:
Electrical Systems Management
- Supervise and lead electrical maintenance staff during assigned shifts.
- Ensure efficient completion of electrical service requests, minimizing power disruptions and downtime.
- Diagnose and rectify malfunctioning electrical equipment, such as power distribution panels, transformers, and motors.
Training and Development
- Provide training to enhance the capabilities of the electrical operations staff.
- Demonstrate correct usage of electrical tools and testing equipment.
- Recommend courses for advanced electrical engineering and safety training.
Electrical Safety and Maintenance
- Oversee electrical preventative maintenance programs, minimizing service disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA standards, and departmental safety policies.
- Implement lockout/tagout and arc flash safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 5 years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical maintenance.
- A minimum of 5 years in a supervisory electrical role.
- Experience as a journeyman electrician, with expertise in building automation and safety electrical systems.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostic software and basic computer applications is essential.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills are a must.
- Ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels and external vendors.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in electrical technology or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with electrical systems integration for HVAC, fire alarms, and security systems.
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program is a plus; current electrician licensure is preferred.
